Using the P400 PIN pad
Last updated
This section describes the using procedures for the P400.
The primary PIN pad is active by default on the POS.
If the secondary PIN pad is selected in between the transaction (after scanning the items), the primary PIN pad will be active after the transaction is completed.
If the secondary PIN pad is selected before the transaction, the secondary PIN pad will be active for the rest of the cashier session or until the cashier toggles the PIN pad or logs out of the session.
The smart card transaction procedure can vary depending on the application. Verify the proper procedure with your application provider before performing a smart card transaction.

Leave the smart card in the card reader until the transaction is completed. Premature removal can void the transaction.
The P400 has a magnetic card reader that uses a triple track stripe reader. This gives the unit greater reliability over a wide range of swipe speeds and operating environments.

The P400 supports contactless transactions through an integrated contactless module. The terminal only becomes active for contactless smart card transactions when initialized by an application.
