DCR screen frozen / keypad not responding

Troubleshoot dispenser card reader (DCR) screen freezes, keypad issues, slow softkeys, Gilbarco “One Moment” lockups, and card reader loading issues.

Quick triage for "frozen screen"

If the report only says "frozen screen," first confirm where the screen is frozen.

Is the frozen screen on the register/POS, or on the DCR at the pump?

Use this guide only for DCR/pump-side frozen screens.

If the issue is on the register/POS, do not use this guide. Use Register/POS frozen screen instead.

Use this page only if the issue is on a DCR and you see any one of the symptoms below.

Any single symptom in this list is enough to use these steps.

• DCR/pump screen is frozen / stuck prompt

• Keypad presses do nothing

• Slow response after selecting a softkey

• “One Moment” (Gilbarco)

• Card reader stuck loading

• DCR stuck loading

• Dispenser or pump screen stuck loading

Troubleshooting steps (in order)

If only 1–2 DCRs are impacted, do not initialize everything first. Start with the affected positions.

Confirm scope and what’s stuck

• Check how many DCRs are impacted.

• Note the exact screen message (blank, “One Moment”, etc.)

• Confirm whether any side buttons or keypad keys respond.

Before Initializing the DCRs

Before Initializing the impacted DCRs which is Downloading to one or few DCRs, confirm:

• The impacted pumps/fueling positions are Idle and

• No Active transactions or customers on those impacted pumps.

This prevents Initialization errors and stuck fuel sales.

Initialize impacted DCRs

Use either method below.

From the register

From the register:

CSR Functions → Fuel Manager Menu → Download to DCRs

1. Enter 1 if the impacted DCR number is 1, 2 if it’s 2, and so on.

2. Enter 0 for All (only if all DCRs/pumps are impacted).

From Configuration Client ( On POS or Back Office Computer)

Expected result: the impacted DCR should show any screen change (Downloading/Loading, reboot, new prompt).

Wayne: DCR lag between Prompts and Softkey selection

In Wayne DCR software version 2.8.203.xx and later, a feature called "Softkey Mirroring" was introduced. This feature is not compatible with Commander, causing noticeable potential slowdowns.

If the site is running this version or higher and experiencing lag or slowdown, contact a Pump Technician to disable Softkey Mirroring.

Gilbarco: stuck on “One Moment”

If Primary Graphic Side is set to 1, it can cause Gilbarco DCRs to lock up and display "One Moment" If you are experiencing this issue, verify that their Primary Graphic Side is set to 0 for all individual positions.
